TENSES


TENSES

1.    Simple present tense
Formula :            S + V-1

Use : to state the facts, habits, and events that happened at this present moment.
Example : She is so beatiuful

2.    Present Continuous Tense
formula:           S + am/is/are + present participle/V-ing

use : to discuss the on going action plan now or in the future.
Example : The buses are arriving in an hour.

3.    Present Perpect Tense
Formula :   S + have/has + past participle/V-3

Use : is used to express an activity or situation that has started in the past and has been completed at some point in time in the past or still continues today.
Example : I have lived in Cilegon for 3 months.

4.    Present Perpect Continous Tense
Formula :            S + have/has + present participle/V-ing

Use: to express the action that has been completed at some point in the past or action has been started in the past and continues today. The action usually no specific duration of time of no relevance to the present conditions.
Example : The toddlers have been playing a ball for an hour.


5.    Simple Past Tense
Formula :               S + V-2

Use : to indicate that an event occurred in the past
Example : The party started at 10.00 a.m.


6.    Past Continous Tense
Formula :           S + was/were + present participle/V-2

Use : continuous tense to express the action that will be going on at a certain time in the future.
Example : The team was playing basketball all day yesterday.


7.    Past Perpect Tense
Formula :            S + had + past participle/V-3

Use : perfect tense to express that an activity will have been completed at a point in time in the future.
Example: When he came last night, the cake had run out.


Formula :                S + had + been + present participle/V-ing

Use ;to express an action (with a specific time duration) has been completed at some point in time in the past.                                                                  
Example : The labors had been demonstrating for an hour when the manager came.

   
Formula :            S + will + bare infinitive
   S + be (is/am/are) + going to + bare infinitive)

Use  : to declare that the action takes place in the future, spontaneous or planned.
Example :  You will win the game.
                      I am going to meet him tomorrow.


10. Future Continuos Tense
Formula :          S + Will + be + present particile/V-ing

Use :  continuous tense to express the action that will be going on at a certain time in the future  .
Exampe : He will be sleeping at 10 p.m.


Formula :        S + will + have + past participle/V-3
Use :  to express that an activity will have been completed at a point in time in the future.
Example : At this time next month, I’ll have finishedmy English course.

Formula :      S + will + have + been + present participle/V-ing

Use :  to express an action that would have been going on for so long at specific points in the future.
Example : The cat will have been sleeping long when you get home.


Formula :      S + would + bare infinitive

Use : to express an action to be performed, make predictions, and make an appointment in the future at the moment is past.
Example : He would forgive you

Formula :    S + would + be + present participle

Use ;   pas future continuous tense is a form of the verb to express action or imaginary ongoing situation unreal if his condition is met (present continuous conditional ~ conditional sentence type 2 with continuous tense).
Examplewould be attending the conference if I was in Jakarta..
Fact : but I’m not in Jakarta 

Formula :   S + would + have + past participle/V-3

Use : future perfect tense to talk about an action that is not the case in the past (conditional sentence type 3).
Exanple : If you had saved your jewelry and foreign currency in a safety deposit box, they wouldn’t have gone..

Formula :    S + would + have + been + present participle

Use : future perfect continuous tense is a verb form to express an action or imaginary situation is in progress at a certain point or during certain periods in the past (perfect continuous conditional ~ conditional type 3 with continuous).
Example : If his Visa had been approved, he would have been working abroad for a week.
Fact :  but his Visa wasn’t approved
